SOLD Team Wild2, need reco for 1-man flip-over
« on: Nov 26, 2011, 10:44 PM »
OK guys, since I am building a permanent shanty for the larger outings and thicker ice,
So....I am in the market for a 1-man flip-over unit.

Basically it comes down to clam or frabil right?

If so, what are some pro's-con's to each of their 1-man unit offerings?

Thanks in advance!

You could try the Team Wild 1 man. It's at the top of my list since you can't seem to get the Otter version in anything but insulated anymore.

I don't think I have seen any of their new stuff in person.  Just looked at the website and it looks $$$

Just got an Otter Wild Cottage - yes a bit pricey but well worth it in my mind.  I looked at Frabil and Clam and too; Otter won out.  Someone suggested the Shappell flip overs to me, but I could not find any to look at.  They were recommended by a few friends so they must be decent.  I know their prices are lower than the others.

I just don't think the insulated units are worth the extra $$.  My buddy heater keeps it plenty warm w/o the insulation in the shanty, so i think the $$ would just be a waste IMHO.

The Wild's roof is all that is insulated.  I had a full insulated Frabil for 4 years.  There's more to it than just for heat retention.  No, or very little, condensation; also no fabric flapping noise in the wind = quieter.  Hope I don't miss it.
