Were you planning on insulating it  ???  That truck cap is a neat idea and with the ladder racks on it, you could make a storage area to transport your gear and to keep stuff out of the way while fishing. Less clutter in the shack!! The only problem I see is that the skis are kinda short! I'd have used 2 long ones instead. But hey, you gotta work with what ya got on hand. Can't wait to see more pictures and be sure to let us know how it fishes!!

not sure on insulating yet or not.  i get free styrofoam sheets at work.  I got 4 free sheets of a 1/8 inch acrylic that is flexible and doesnt breath so im going to try that for the sides.  It was free from a friend.  yeah buddy im planning on having my augers ride right up on top there.  it has 1/2" cdx plywood floors and is measuring like 6x7 ish.  its going to have a lot of realestate but im guessing its going to weigh in around 450lb.  hopefully theres no slush.  I will have total into this less then 200.00.  my friend owns a scrap yard so i got metal for the frame and the cap for free.  and i paid paid 50 to have the frame welded up and the skis i had laying around that are not that good anymore with holes and whatnot.  so all i bought were some 2x3, screws, hinges, and plywood.

Im going to duck down to get in and then sit in a chair all day so I dont think it will be to bad.  I wanted it as low profile as i could get it.  All I have left to do is a lil work on the front ski bottoms get carbides off and put a plastic stip on and cut holes in floors and build back door and wall and silicone or fill a few cracks.  hopefully next weekend I will be done.  will see. Ill have more pics up as i get the finishing act done.  wonder if i am going to have to insulate?

Yes insulate as much as possible it will keep you warmer and help you save fuel on heating it.

Looks good.  I just built one like it.  Used treated wood for the skis. And put a bump out on for the wood stove. I have 4 holes but I'm thinking of sealing up 2 of them. By the time chairs are in I lost slots room.

Are ya planing on blocking it up ? Also just as a thought for you. The local tire shop gave me a bad  inner tube from a slider. I cut it up and put it around the bottom now the wind won't whistle up the holes.

Im cutting my holes using 5your gallon pails.  Then when I open it i just slide a bottomless bucket in the floor.  No wind seals up nicely

I have a steel full frame that allows for holes for me to cut.
