First ice on Louise
« on: Nov 13, 2011, 10:46 PM »
Well Iced, Jkw, and myself made a day trip to Louise yesterday.  It snowed off and on all day for the most part with comfortable temps.  We had 4-5 inches of solid black ice with about 7-8 inches of snow.  You could not ask for better conditions.  The fish came in sporadically throughout the day.  I landed 3 decent sized fish and Iced got one.  I got to put my new ice troller to the test and I was not disappointed.  Iced bought one of the new fatfish pop ups and that thing is real neat.  It would appear that Eskimo finally got their shack material right.  Had a real good time yesterday and I hope that it is just a prelude of what to come.  We did see a couple guys out on machines so now it is really on.

Ya come on Dave, didn't I teach you how to take pictures. Kneel down below the guy holding a fish. Angle the shot up at the fish and hide the guys face behind the fish. They look much bigger that way too!  ;)

It would appear that Eskimo finally got their shack material right.

Is the material on the standard Eskimo or the insulated model?

Looks like you guys had a great day trip!

Great job gents!  Good to see you got out and enjoyed the day and some healthy fish too.  So all in all you do like the insulated Eskimo?  Looked at them and the Clam, but can't decide!

So we are sure that there are actuall witnesses of Jason using the showdown and really catching fish with it...?

...no, that is an awesome first trip to LL and I am glad the showdown helped out.  I have yet to get mine out, so I guess I need to make sure it is charged and roll out the QF6.

Thanks for the pics

I want to make a floor for it but as of now you only get to stand on wet ice. When the heater is craking you are soon stanging in a 1/2 inch of water.

Well in the mean time let me know if you want a bit of carpet to put down to at least add some traction.  I am at a local flooring store here in Anchorage and could snag some remnants or scrap if you wanted.   That is another thing I learned from Jason.  Of course I like the wood floor that I eventually built after his model, but the carpet is nice sometimes for lighter set up and still adding some comfort.

I am interested to hear a little more about that new shelter though...  Its insulated???  How heavy and big does that make it?  How much affect do you guys think it adds to the warmth of the shelter?

Thanks
