Auger Blade Question
« on: Feb 21, 2011, 12:14 PM »
Has anyone tried to put a larger blade on their hand auger than it is designed for?  I have a 6" that I would like to upgrade to an 8"

Thanks-

i doubt 8" blades would fit on a 6" auger.  if youre lookin for an 8" the strikemaster lazer is what i use and it works great, a little more expensive but worth it.

That is why I was asking.  I have only heard of guys putting larger blades on but didn't know if anyone here has had any experience.

you will have to redrill holes to make it fit and it will be a bear to crank and it won't clear snow the way it should  been there done that brought the tee shirt

The time and money you spend on blades and getting them to work you would be better off buying a new 8" hand auger. If you do put the time into it who knows if it will even work. I don't think it worth it.
