Cool Lake Erie Pics from last year

i live 5 minutes away from the best perch fishing in america, and ice fishing one of the great lakes is the neatest experience ive ever had to say the least...check out these pics of the crazy ice that forms when a body of water that large freezes

I live at the very southern end of Lake Michigan (northwest Indiana)  I have seen Ice shelves that look like something from a sci-fi movie.  Ice slabs sticking straight up out of the water.  That is cool stuff.

yeah the year before i took these there were mountains of that stuff some 30ft tall...shove ice they call it...its some really interesting stuff.  the force needed to break slabs of ice that big must be incredible.  some of those chunks of ice are upwards of 8'' thick too
