I've got both floating and submersible and if i leave any at home it's the submersible you can buy the floating ones at walmart for 10 bucks as far as color never expiremented with that
is it wrong to be turned on by an icehole?

But do they work? I would assume they attract fresh water skrimps where applicable, which in turn attracts koke....right?

I'd think they work i've had guys 20 feet from me without them not catching anything so i tell them to pull up a chair and fish with me and they start catching them

well i know they attract the little plankton type water bugs and that type of thing, cause after having one in the water for a while you can see thousands of those little suckers swimming around.

I have both and think the floating one is the way to go.  FYI, They also work great for smelt.

This topic... "Lights for salmon", are the lights used at night only or do you use them for day time? Say with snow on the ice or dark overcast days or with both?

The only time I've used the lights is in the dark. Then I turn them off at daybreak.
Not sure if they'd help during daytime hours.

Used lights at night for kokes for years with good success.
I have the halogen submersible, old style, draws 3 amps,
need a big battery to go all night!
I fished a night with a guy on Lake 5 earlier this year he had the green LED submersible, it worked as well.

Was in Snappy's in Kalispell today and they have some of the floating lights for $10.  I got one and hope to use this Saturday on LMR.

No, I didn't get the last one . there were about 4 more.  when you enter the fishing department  they were against the wall on the top shelf.

I have the green flourescent kind and found that it does help keep fish in the area early morning or late afternoon....I primarily have used mine for Crappie fishing.

There are both floating and sinking types of lights.  I have both but primarily use the floating type, they fit right in an 8 inch hole.  One thing to remember when you get up move the lights on cold nights, they will freeze in the hole and it makes it very difficult to remove without damaging the Styrofoam.  You would think that heat from lights would keep un frozen.  The submersible work great, except they are very fragile compared top the floating and the use more energy.
