Just seem to be more dense....heavier weight with smaller body so you can "downsize" but still get to the bottom faster and feel the action better
I'd rather be fishing!

they are heavier and you can use a smaller jig and it will sink faster.

I think they are more of an alternative to lead since lead can be damaging to the ecosystem.  Also some places have a ban on lead, so you must use something else.

Weight per size. Come into their own when the bite calls for being fairly deep, quickly getting back down there with a small presentation

When your fishin 40-60ft of water and fish are suspended 20-40ft down and on the move u want to get down fast and keep them around.they make deep water fishing exciting.tungsten is the way to go..

Tungsten is the way to go but only if you want to spend twice as much money for a jig. It definitely increases the sensitivity of the fishing rod due to the weight while keeping a small presentation at the hook, also it increases the time spent fishing since you can get the bait into the target zone (depth) much faster.
Fish on !

They suck! Leave my jigs on the shelf! That's it! You guys raid the shelves and leave all the poor colors. I'm going to drive over to Haslet this spring to stock up for next year.

Found out how important they are a few days ago.  Was fishing shallow with lead no big deal...some guys gave me a tip in deep water and I went crazy waiting for the small lead jig to get down.  Changed over to tung. and it took WAY LESS time.

Not enough time using them to tell you if they show up better on the flasher.

Maybe some of the others can tell us about that.
Have fun and be safe.

And don't forget they clear up your screen on your flasher so now you only see the jig and not the splitshot. I use to notice on my flasher that they would sometime's go up and hit my splitshot.

Show up better on flasher, super small for weight.
A day without fishing is a day wasted.

  Best answer!!! When the bite is hot you need your bait in the zone faster when dropping down...tungsten allows you to do that!!! I use 4mm Fiskas and if they are fussy I will tie on a 3mm...but that is rare!! Oh and if you are going to get some go with Epoxy Glow...paint is better and at almost $3 a pop getting glow gives you more flexibility!!!

It's a fine line between fishing & sitting on the ice like an idiot

Thanks for the replies guys. All correct, they do sink a LOT faster! The bluegills really liked a 4mm Perch yesterday.

the advantage is more fish! Able to fish a smaller lure when youre using tungsten. The ONLY drawback is the price. More companies are producing them now so hopefully the price will drop
