Not catching pickerel is a blessing with absense of pike stocking pickeral numbers r getting greater and greater someone needs to see how we can get a petition or someway of getting them stocked again it's a shame the numbers aren't where they were. Maybe they can cut back on stocking every conceivable pond in the state with trout. Maybe leave a pond or two to other fish that don't top out at 5 lbs if your lucky.

Pickerel were here first.  I don't believe Pike are native in this area.

The trout stocking could be scaled back though.

pickerel, brook trout and yellow perch a game fisherman's dream!  I imagine there used to be smallies though.  Ice fishing wouldnt be the same

I believe white perch extent into saltwater is mainly brackish and naturally landlocked in rivers and lakes.  I have seen records of them off of new york though but I am pretty sure they were not introduced to all freshwater bodies in New England.

Big picks can be fun but yea the small ones suck.

It would be interesting to find a book/documentation of the original native fish species in New England.

Pickerel do fight stronger than pike that I will agree in 18 seasons I've caught I over four and maybe 30 over three not worth the time the fight were fun but I've fished for more days in one season that I've caught real weighed pickerel over 3
