Vex FL-18 or Marcum Vx-1 Pro, Help me out

I've got both located for excellent prices, and yes, the Marcum is cheaper.  My main isssue is that a good portion of the time, the unit I pick will be used in the same shack as an FL-8SLT and I do not want to have interference issues, not even a little!

I've researched both of them till my head hurts, looking for first hand experience with both units, and would really like feedback from those of you who have fished with both a Vex and Marcum together.

In that case you may want to choose a sonar that doesn't use 200Khz for it"s frequency. I'm sure you will get some interference, but will be able to clear it up.

Get a FL-20! Not only does it have anti rejection technology it also has both 6' and 12 bottom lock.split screen.I have one and when im fishing around Fl-8 or FL-12 just push in the gain button and everybodys clears up!The best feature is the low power setting. Fishing in weeds i can see the "TRUE" bottom unlike my F L-8 and just read the top.

Get the VX1. More power then both Vexilars. Has zoom and patented interference rejection. Comes with a waterproof case and charger. No need for the low power mode gimmick, it doesn't need that band-aid ........ and for $200 less then the most overpriced flasher in the market in the FL20 and still a better choice over the FL-18

What JR said... We run Vex and Marcums side by side all the time, you won't have a problem. Marcums are better at getting rid of unwanted interference, sometimes when you got more than 2 Vex's close theres problems. I fish next to a FL-20 and if anyone has issues it's the 20.

Hmmmmmm..my bud had the Marcum and at the end of the day his was packed away in the back of the shanty and we both used my FL20!  must have been a bad battery on his part!

Sooooo .... the case for the FL20 and the extra $200 is being made in the sense that a battery may run out on the VX1.  My Marcum has twice the power of the VX1 and has never run out in a day. That $200 could buy a lot of spare batteries (not needed) or a nice used power auger.

The VX is the low power Marcum unit, I can run my high powered LX-5s daylight till after dark and still have battery left. I always carry a spare battery as I always did when I owned a Vex.

I can fish 2 1/2 days on 1 charge!  FL-20

Just plugged my LX in from 6+ hours run time today, still at 80% charge on a 5 year old 7ah battery.

What does that have to do with anything? Do most fisherman not have access to a plug for 2 1/2 days?  Are you trying to sell that as a $200 option?

Love my Vex but in the end any of them will help you catch fish. I've played with a VX-1P can't say I was sold on it but I'm used to my Vex. Seen a LX-5 in use but ahven't had time to play with one personally. I do prefer the flat screen of my Vex though.

The FL-18 also has anti rejection and BL too..

My wife bought me this unit for X-mas.. I have used it a few times... It F"ING rocks

I am not going to say anything about the Marcums because I have not used them..

But I also put so many hours of research on both units and I decided that the FL-18 was right for me.

No matter what you go with it will catch you more fish.
