superstore has some nice big mackeral or whatever they are. Not the bags of smelts usually right beside them.

I will not understand why some of the bait dealers around town won't get a mess of small tulibee from commercial fishermen. After the nets are lifted in some places the ice is littered with discarded tullibee as there is no market for that stuff.

Agree 100%.  Manny's used to have Tulibee in the 6"-10" range but then either the Bait Shops stop buying em or Manny's stop selling em.  Was SIR and maybe Ernie's too that I used to egt them from.  Either way I was  :(.  Now I try and catch my own, but don't always have the time.

Usually superstore will cary smelts as the chinese people love them, they come in 2lb bags usually, here in Saskatoon the smelts are about 6 inches which is decent.

I was at 'stupidstore' today, the 2lb bags were there but they were not any bigger than average sized minnows! And to boot, the tails were all snipped off!  Not the smelts we've all seen in the past!

If someone has the time to check out Lucky Foods behind the McD's on Notre Dame in Winnipeg. They are a chines store that normally has a good stock of fish.

Panfish, read your post above.....you JUST SAID that the smelts are decent at the Fishing Hole. Now you say you have no idea????? You also said they have Herring & Sardines, but they don't have Sardines.
