Cant seem to get the fishy smell off my hands. Didnt do that good today, only came home with 12 decent gills. Doesnt bother me but the Ol' Lady wont get close to me. :(. What I was wondering is what all you guys do to get the fishy smell off your hands.

Get yourself a stainless spoon out of the drawer, when she's not lookin of course! Wash your hands with good dishsoap dawn or compareable rubbing the spoon in hands while washing.  This is the same as buying one of the bars that bass pro sells at 10 bucks +....works pretty darn good and my other half approves of me then too

Lemon juice is supposed to break down the oil that results in the smell.  I think it works.  Theoretically, vinegar would do the same thing, but I prefer the smell of lemons.

i use gojo orange or purple works but the orange has lots of citrus in it and it will take the smell of burnt bearing grease off if you know that smell it is worse than any fish smell maybe not the slime off a trout. Or get your old lady to go fishing too then you both will smell like fish and she wount be able to complain. lol

The Gauranteed Way To Kill Fish Smell From Your Hands -

Just a small amount of dish soap on your hands (maybe ten drops), sprinkle a good amount of table salt on the dish detergent. Wash as normal in real warm water. What makes it work is to keep working the soap in until the salt is totally dissolved.
This works to get many other odors (like onion) out of your skin too.

Thank you very much for the information.  I had one of those bars many years ago, it worked good, always thought it was an alloy of some sort.  Was always going to study up on this, but now that I know, I can take it off of my list of things to do.

its not what your washing with after,

the problem with stinky hands, is porous hands, if your hands are dry(icefishing promotes dry skin) then they will absorb the fish oils and hold them tight.

the best soultion to stinky hands is lanolin, rub some into your hands before touching stinky oils like fish or gasoline even. the lanolin will hydrate your hands and prevent any new oils to absorb into them.  lanolin is cheep and very handy, it will help keep your hands a bit warmer, i also rug a bunch into my boots for waterproofin..
