res. in van wert

i have herd good thing about this body of water. any of you st. marys guys fish this res.? particularly interested in the walleyes in there. reports say that a 25incher came out of there last year! thanks for anyones help.

I don't know about hard water but when it's open my bro-inlaw and his boys do well their,lots of rainbows during release! :tipup:

bows eh! i didnt know about those. do you know were i could get a map of this water? i cant beleave that nobody else has any info on this res. either nobody fishes it or its so good that nobody talks!  ::)

No maps,It's not your typicalres.Not much in the way of structure.I call them ponds! ;DTheir are two of them side by side and in the spring they release the bows.You might check the odnr for dates but I know the locals do well for the bows,gills,crappie.It is located next to the Co.Hospitalat the south east side of town.They do have a parking lot.I think you can put in a small boat in open water.Sorry I don't know much more about it but that should get you started. :tipup:

thx again cheapshanty. no pearchguy these are in van wert like cheap said se in town. if i remember rite there is a water tower close too. walleye are my biggest interest in these waters. only herd of them threw one guy though,so who knows. i guess ill have to check for myself lol

River....I do beleive their are some waleye's in their.
Gator:Do you hunt erie alot?I have been wanting to try the perch through the ice up their or anywhere really ;D Any tips or areas you would share? :tipup:

yes there is walleye's in them there waters, good luck finding them! there is also some sunken x-mas trees in both ponds. the DNR released some bows last summer while a buddie and I were fishing, but we didn't have much luck. fishing is tough during hard water, but summertime isn't bad when you driftfish. you can get a small boat in both ponds, but there is no launch so you have to drag it up a STEEP hill. hope this helps.

Cheapshanty Grand lake is a good lake for perch it,s 30mi south of van wert.lake is high but mite have good ice by weekend.where do you live.

I'm from decatur In.I never new grand had perch.Do they have nice ones?Do you fish it alot,and where is a good place to start? :tipup:

Grand has nice perch 9 to12inch,s. been stocking eye,s last four years also.I fish mostly in winter,and fish alot.mite have good ice by weekend and will try fishing.maybe we could hook-up some time.west side of windypoint is good for perch and should be for eyes,good place to start.

sounds like a plan,a little inside always helps on new water.Not sure where windypoint is,I bought my duck boat from ohio marina back in 2000.Is it close to their or? :tipup:

Windypoint would be on other side of lake. i,m going to check ice today in diffrent areas.good luck to all that have ice. :tipup: ;D ;D ;D

been up there but didn.t fish it but there has been guys fishing it lots of holes in ice.
