Blacks Creek Res
« on: Jan 06, 2011, 09:58 AM »
so i took a trip to blacks creek res right outside of boise last night. 4-6" of good clear ice. Tried down by the dam for a couple of holes with the vex. Didnt see any fish. I couldnt tell but it looked like a couple of holes were drilled closer to the center. I've never fished black's creek before. Anybody want to offer some advice/opinion about whether it is worth it or not? water was super milky looking...

I've ice fished Indian Creek Reservoir (just up the interstate from Blacks Creek) in years past and was able to catch some very small perch... But yeah, I don't think Blacks Creek has a minimum pool so it can and does go completely dry from time to time...

cj doesn't have any ice, but if you have a boat I think you should catch them in about 25-30 ft of water... I will head down there in a few weeks for some perch fishing...

Sorry woodland dont have any info on the lake although i did see a couple guys out there today. I dont think it has dried up since fish and game stocked with bass and bluegill in 06. so there should be fish there.
sick days are for fishing!

I was out there last summer on my pontoon boat. I marked a few fish on my fish finder, but no bites. I was also the only one out there fishing which probably should have told me something. It is mainly an area where people go to shoot. That also concerned me a little floating out there on my pontoon boat. I can just imagine someone drinking too much thinking I am the world's largest duck floating on the water.

I was one of the couple of guys out there yesterday.  Nothing.  Not anything.  First time out on the ice, though, so I'm far from an expert.  My dad, who's not new to it like I am was with me and didn't have any more luck.

My wife and I were on Blacks Creek Saturday 1-8-2011.  The ice is clear and is a good solid 5 1/2 inches. We caught several small Perch in 4 to 5 FOW.  There are fish in there, but they are small. They will get larger when the water tables rise. We have been fishing blacks creek for many years. There are Bass, Perch, Bullhead and last Nov 2010, I caught a few Crappie.  The reservoir has not gone completely dry for over 10 years, however, this year it has gone very low due to irregation.  With a good Snowfall in the Danskins, both Blacks Creek and Indian Creek should start to fill up again. We have tried fishing  (Both open Water and Ice Over) throughout the res and have had good fishing on many occassions. They are in there, just have to keep on your holes.
