Tuesday and Wednesday
« on: Jan 03, 2011, 06:26 PM »
I don't have to go back to work until Thursday so I'm trying to fit in all the ice fishing I can get. Anyone else going out Tuesday/Wednesday that I could meet up with? I was thinking I'd hit Crystal Pond (Eastford) at Camp Nahaco but I might be alone out there so maybe I'll go to Bigelow again or see how Black Pond (Woodstock) is.

Better wear some floaties on each arm the ice can be tricky there...

I tried Bigelow yesterday, didn't like the sounds the ice was making, got myself spooked and went to Mashapaug. Didn't much care for the sounds the ice made there either but it was safe enough. Maybe if I was less lazy and spread my tipups more I would have caught something... Not so much as a bite. Got a few flags but I think they were all triggered by the wind, especially when the line on my wind-jigging tip up managed to get wrapped around the vane :-/ Put my camera down a few holes, saw a lot of rocks and branches and a pine cone that looked like a fish but no real fish.
Still better than sitting at home.
Not sure if I'll get out today, but hopefully I'll get some more ice before I have to go back to work.
