when using a fly reel do you put other line on it first and then spool your ic line over it ?

Fly line backing like 10-20#, then some mono backing like 6-10#, then finally the line you're going to fish with like 2-4#.  What I like to do is fill my line backing so that I creat a saddle on the spool.  So that the line I'm going to fish with is generally centered and I don't really worry about that thin line getting buried on the edge of the spool.
