I have a favorite jig for gills, but I don't know what they are called or where I can get more, and I only have two. It is a very small grub shape with sort of a segmented body. I think the body is made from lead. The body is reddish on top, and glow (sort of white) on the bottom. The body is formed around a red, curved scud-like hook - probably about size 12 or 14.Anybody know what these are, and where I can get more? I think I bought these at Cabela's a few years ago, but I didn't see them there this year. I can't remember who makes them or what they are called, but they sure do work well on the gills - especially the light biters.
I agree with the two hooks on one line, not just because they are so fun but also if there are fish up higher in the column it makes it easier to catch them and possibly catch more inactive ones on the bottom, last time i was out a rat finkee on top and a fat boy on bottom was the ticket.
This is the ONE jig.K&E Moon Glitter & Glow - Green size 12On my main rod, I've had the same jig on since catching limits+ last season and have taken a few limits this season without re-tying.Thread a waxworm on and keep the hook covered - readjust and/or replace waxie as neededI actually bought a few other jigs (different color Moon G&G's, Marmooskas, and Sniders) recently, but as of yet, I have had no reason to change from the ONE jig. I've got a bunch of other jigs that have just sat in the box for the past few years as well.
