nice mess of panfish!

I assume the Largemouth were either deeply hooked, bleeding & or you couldn't locate your clippers to cut the line & release them?

If I end up keeping that suit it will completely ruin all of your joking! And you can assume whatever you like, we will keep the truth a secret so your assumption cannot be confirmed nor denied haha

it would be ashame if the largemouth weren't released to fight another day.....

you had plenty of panfish to eat, this is what gives nj fishermen a bad rap.

To each their own mr crappie just think of it like that, however there isn't much difference in keeping one fish to the next. Not sure how keeping bass in any state would give those fisherman a bad rap though?  ???

I guess if you actually eat them & they are of legal size, but it's a shame to waste such valuable gamefish when you can feast on all those perch, crappies & 'gills.

If you do eat'em, let me know how you prepare'em...OK?

Mr crappie you assume too much. Bass are just another fish just like perch, crappies, and gills. Bass fillets are bigger than that of the others so by taking 1 bass you would have to take multiples of the others to equal it. You are actually killing less fish in that sense. Also, you assume they were killed just to be taken out, and that any fish goes. Only legal fish were taken that day (and actually nothing less than 15 inches, anything smaller isn't really worth keeping anyways). And yes any and all fish we take, we eat. Why else would you take one? Anyone that kills fish without a purpose or takes more than their limit or fish that are not legal size should be punished. Fine them and take their license if they get caught multiple times. Also, in smaller lakes and ponds that have an abundance of bass as well as other fish, if none are ever taken out than eventually there will be too many and their growth will become stunted. Only so many fishes can live in one area and feed off the same bait. So if bass were never taken out than they would never grow, and never become the "valuable gamefish" that you say they are.

MrCrappie

The only possible bad rap from keeping LM is more than 5 per person and less than 12". Otherwise, they are legit and no bad rap is possible. If a fish is gut hooked but were gonna be kept for eating there's no bad rap there either IMO!!!

MrCrappie,
The lake we are fishing has to many bass & they need to be thinned out. Yes we eat everthing we keep nothing is ever wasted. How I make them fry them or bake them with clam's

Thanx for the recipes.

AJ
Looking at the first photo at the top of this string, I see 3 largemouth in that mess.  (Looking at the photo like a face of a clock), the bass @ 10 & 7 o'clock are a debatable 12", the 4 o'clock fish looks like the only "legit" keeper.

AJ states: "Only legal fish were taken that day (and actually nothing less than 15 inches, anything smaller isn't really worth keeping anyways)."

Those must have been some MONSTER perch if the 2 smaller bass shown were not less than 15 inches....

I find it hard to believe the bass were all over 15"
