Usually use a Uniknot for tying lines together.

Used to use the blood knot, but have switched to uni-uni.
Just a little quicker for me to tie. Like em both.

I dont know what the knot is called, but:  I fly fish a lot, and bought one of those knot typing tools (think its called the Tie Fast Knot Tyer).  You can join two lines really easy with one.  I use the same tool for tying jigs on.  Works really nice.

surgeons knot is easiest and as strong as any. works well mono to mono, mono to flouro, flouro to flouro. some of the others the flouro will weaken the mono at the knot. if your taking ice fishing squid type line to mono, use a swivel

Blood knot if the lines are close to the same diameter; fly fishermen have been using them building tapered leaders forever. With a blood knot, the two lines will stay fair concentric which will make line go through the guides a lot better.

If the lines are similar diameter the blood knot or the uni to uni works great. I usually only use a nail knot when fly fishing to join the fly line to the leader material as they are different diameters.

I would use a blood knot I've been using blood knots for years connecting tippet to leaders fer fly fishing its a really strong knot and once you get the hang of it you can tie them quite fast
If you smoke it they will come

Plus 1 for the Albright knot especially for joining lines of different size.
I used it for joining 6# mono to dacron
