We have had some solid ice here in northern Montana since thanksgiving. Trouble is, it gets into the 50's for a day and ruins everything.

The guys with the ice balls and the know how are making a move here in NEPA tomorrow. I'll be out Sunday morning.
FM
I'll let you test the waters, FM.I'm giving it a week or so, because theres only about an inch or so, and my ice balls aren't as brazen as they used to be.

After going to the coldest part of New York State
(saranac lake area), and not finding any safe ice even on some 1 acre shallow ponds, im gonna wait a bit.

one more week for me and the ice should be ready.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an  well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, A fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming \"WOO HOO, what a ride!

Looking good here in northwest Ohio,  had 4 1/2" on my small pond this morning.  Forecast to be in single digits tonight,  slight warm-up for 2 days then back to single digits lows for the weekend.  I will be fishing tonight after work!!

Nice pics FM; nothing like solid blue first Dec ice. In my opinion, the only time 2" is safe. I also enjoyed the Susquehanna Cat pics. I miss fishing in PA.

Latest weather report says its supposed to get cold after the sloppy front goes thru!
-6 for wednsday, -10 thursday and, -15 for friday! These are the low temps for Minneapolis, Minnesota!
Right now as of 2:50pm up at Lake Of The Woods on the Canadian border, the temp is 36 degrees farenhiet!
Here in Minneapolis it is 22 degrees farenhiet! Go figgure!
But all of the lakes are covered in ice and they are driving trucks on the lakes up north right now! Get R Done!
