x67c ice machine transducer mounting
« on: Dec 08, 2010, 02:09 PM »
Any ideas on ways to mount the transducer that comes with the x67c ice machine. The one that I got has a rubber cord that threads through the transducer. Not sure exactly how to use this or if i just want to make my own float out of some foam. Any ideas?

The unit should have a metal arm mount that swings in or out infront of the graph, that holds the transducer. Some like it, but I opted for a 10 in. piece of pipe insulation and some black tape and made a float. You can use the rubber stop that was supposed to fit in the arm mount as a float stop. Worked well for me all last season.

I will probably go with the homemade foam float unless anyone has a better idea.

Get a Vex foam float and size it to float your xducer. It will work good.

I think the float is best. You'll just have to find a rubber gromet of some kind as a stop, because you will need to vary the depth that the ducer hangs in the water(ice thickness, etc)

Buy a Vex Stopper. About 2 bucks for 2.

I use a float, mine didn't come with a metal arm either. It is made from pipe insulation you can get at the hardware store. Cut to length and held on with a zip tie at the top and bottom so I can adjust the transducer depth.

I use a 6" length of foam pool noodle. Split down one half and a small bungie cord to hold it together.

i figured out what they were trying to do. it comes with a rubber cord that you can attach to the transducer so that you are not putting stress on it. That rubber cord can be weaved through 3 pegs on the bracket and that holds it in place. seems to work pretty good in my office. i think i will give it a try on the ice before i decide to get a float.

Lost, any chance you could post a picture of that set-up? I just ordered the ice-ducer, and would like to see what you have. Maybe I could rig something like it up. Otherwise, I'm going with the pool noodle and stopper. Thanks, Ed

you wrap the cord around the three pegs and it holds it really well. the bracket can be mounted low or high on the pack.

hope this helps
