11-12 inches today at wabamun. Top couple inches are white but the rest is solid.. A few trucks out on the ice but I'll be walking for another week or so.

9"of good clear ice on my favorite pothole in northeast ab last Sunday. Trout fishing was pretty slow but it beats being inside.

Fishing is an attitude especially when you have a 112 lb. halibut at the other end of the line two hundred feet down!
There was never a fish hatched I couldn't outsmart.

Drove on Pigeon Lake Saturday and Sunday went to a depth of ten feet of water and the ice thickness was 14 inches. While fishing another pickup came over to chat and and parked 10 feet from my truck and stayed for 20 min. Fishing was slow only saw a few whites and both turned away from chartreuse w/w and never came back. They looked like they'd go to 6 to 7 lbs.

Does anyone know the thickness at Lesser Slave lake/Hilliards Bay or maybe surrounding lakes in area? Any info would be appreciated. Just starting to venture out for the season. Many thanks ahead.

Pigeon lake was about 16" with 8-10" of crusted snow on top. Buffalo Lake was similar conditions, but the snow was a bit looser. Travel off trail was difficult, but possible, on Buffalo with my 2WD truck.
