« on: Dec 05, 2010, 04:23 PM »
Hey im new to the area, i moved here from northern minnesota and was wondering if anyone fishes the wolf river with tipups (for walleye of course) if so, how do you need to rig them for the current? is it basically the same as you would in a lake? any advice would be appreciated!!

The river has a pretty fast current, so you'll need quite a bit of weight to hold your bait down.

You could try a wolf river rig, if you don't know how to make 'em, you can stop in at MA's bait and Tackle right in Fremont and they'll set you up.

What I usually do when fishing heavy current areas, is use two ball-bearing swivels.

I slide one up the line, and tie on the other.

The free slider swivel then gets a length of fishing line tied to it for my bell sinkers, the other stationary swivel gets a leader, usually about 2 feet long tied for my rig.

The walleye hits, and can take line while the sinkers stay on bottom.

Hope this helps,

Wiener
