why can't i finde a 4 inch manual ice auger???

what happend? everyone and there grandparent's all had 4 inch manual ice augers!  I wan't to get one for my friend for x-mas, and the only company that still stoke's one is finbore/normark! Everyone else went to a 5"er!!  so if anyone has one or 4 of them... i'd love to buy one off someone! email me: [email protected]   merry christmas everyone! or i should say happy holidays! (sorry)

It's probably because in the old days, you had to use the smallest bit you could find. But nowadays with razor sharp blades and good technology you can get 6 inch holes for the same effort. Look at the old spoon augers...

Nils makes a 4.5" though and its effortless. I bought two when they were half off.

You can still buy 4 inch blades for the Strikemasters but I don't even know the last time they made the augers. One of my 8 inch bits takes 4 inch blades

Cant beat a 4.5" nils master auger pricey but worth every penny try fish307. com or fishusa. com

I had a 8 inch nilzmaster.... beautiful machine!  it was just having to replace the blades twice a year (too much fishing) that got me in the pocket book!

Ive upgraded from a jiffy mod31 10", This year ill be on the ice with a 6"nils, the nils beats my auger, and i just put new blades on the jiffy too. No more mixed gas for me.

I guess my real question is: I'm looking for a 4 inch auger...prefferably a used one, in good working condition, apperance not that important!
