Just went to BPS in Foxborough...
« on: Nov 13, 2010, 05:49 PM »
I felt so lost. Like a kid in Toys r Us for the first time. That place is amazing.

Needless to say I left going "oh man i forgot "insert item here" like 40 times on the drive home.

I could understand where you felt lost there, I was too when I asked where the live bait was. Thank god we still have some small bait shops around.
Love those slab crappie, jumbo perch, and always love those bull sunfish. A.F.& A.M.

i had 75$ in gift certificates (my birthday was the 9th), so i got the following:

TyGer Leader, 30 lb Test. 30 Feet. For the Pike season. Was gonna go with pikekings recommendation but they didnt have it.
Strike Indicator by BPS. Wire one. Cheap, but good enough for me.
a Jig Rod Holder Stand
Buck Shot rattle Spoon 1/4 oz, rainbow color
Swedish pimple, Size 4 (1/4 oz) Gold
Jigging Rap, Gold, 5/16 oz
3 Lindy Slick Jigs 1/8, 3/16, 1/4
New Ice Spoon with a chipper on the back.
Some heavier duty swivels then I had for piking.

Oh also got my kid a snow tube. Had to please him.

I was gonna get some hooks and Frabil Ice cleats but they didnt have much for the size hooks i wanted and they were out of Frabil Ice Cleats, the cheap ones. So I just ordered the following off BPS.com to finish my shopping spree that they cut short:

25 pack Size 1 Gamakatsu Octopus Hooks
6 Pack Size 3/0 Gamakatsu Octopus
6 Pack Size 4/0 Gamakatsu Octopus
Frabil Pull over Ice Cleats

and then i threw in a 2 pack of orange depth finders cause my old ones were hard to find when i dropped them.

Throw in my new Nils High Velocity Hand Auger and the 10 new Indian Hill Traps I am getting tomorrow from Mike and I am set to go for this season now. Nothing left to buy THIS season.

It was really cool seeing all the trout they have swimming around. The kid liked Santas Workshop they had set up too. Next time I wanna go alone though. The kid and the woman were annoying.

Happy birthday to both of you! Next best thing to ice fishing is buying more ice gear or tinkering w/ everything you already have. Defiantly a seasonal ritual. Telling stories, breaking out the same old pics, checking the gps for last seasons hits and misses. But most of all- logging back on to ICE SHANTY. I can't wait. Osmo, "10 new Indian Hills"---- SWEET!  I'm jealous.

Not trying to hijack this thread but since we are discussing shopping,do you guys think Ct. outfitters is better than Cabelas?

I am going to the airport in Hartford in the morning so I am going to Ct Outfitters. I want to spend my money at the shops that cater to fisherman. Cabela's is overpriced in my eyes. Blaine is also having a 20% sale on all rods right now including ice rods.

I went to Cabela's today and got 5 Jason Mitchel reels for 9.99 each. I think they were marked wrong. I was planning on them being 25 each. They also had an Ice35 in the bargain cave for 239. I asked if there was something wrong with it and the guy said no, it's last years model. I was intending on going to Ct Outfitters but had no directions and it was not listed on the gps. I will go there on Friday when I go pick up the wife at the airport.
