Nov 11, lol. Doesnt hurt to hope I guess. I am gonna guess my first day out will be Dec 3. I have a hard time getting to Okoboji Tue-Thurs but Friday no problem. So that will be my first day out.

Every year I hope for dec. 15. Last year I was on the ice dec. 11 in southeast iowa. Its usually around xmas.

Nov 25th im guessing for smaller water barely walkable 2 1/2-3 inches. We should have a contest. First one on the ice fishing with pics wins a case of beer? Maybe have a funeral home sponsor it

Same here. At the very least I can usually walk on the marina pool at Cornelia and catch 4 inch fish.

i'm pushin' 300 lbs and (if done carefilly) have absolutely no problem with 2 1/2" of good clear ice....spud in one hand, ice picks around the neck, and sled trailing...also i like to keep early ice to fishing pretty shallow...if i go under (and i've never went past my waist) the picks could reach the top of the ice even if my feet were on the bottom.

He said the current La Nina weather pattern, which favors warmer-than-normal weather, is expected to stay through November.

Things change as winter approaches.

Hillaker expects more frequent below-normal temperatures and colder-than-usual weather from January through March.

Here In South East Iowa I guess I will be on the ice around Christmas Lets say Dec 22. We have thanksgiving at my folks in Minnesota and we always go Ice fishing on black Friday(day after Thanksgiving.) I would love to be on the ice around Thanksgiving here in Iowa.
