Just checking to see what Militia members in Iowa are awake and ready. Who's the underboss and caporegimes here? We really need to get things goin here, every other state is way more into it.

Joined last year going to prolla be in the militia soon.

If anyone is good with graphics we should make a IOWA...iceshanty sticker to put on shacks/trucks so be easier to spot fellow members!

Alright, I suppose. It's October, I got my new (new to me) ice house picked up back in June. It's been set up two different times already, heck, I was even sitting in it last month with my ice pole in hand and a beer next to me. I'm more than ready for some hard water!

I've got a buddy who does graphic stuff as far as vinyl stickers and whatnot. Ill look into some kind of logo and get it put up and if anyone else has any ideas throw them up and well vote

maybe something like G Loomis has with the outline of a fish and then put IOWA TEAM- Ice shanty inside the fish ..just a thought.

(yawn) - Is it Oct. already? I fell asleep in the storage room in my Otter back in April. So...how are the Hawks doing this year? I better check in at work...I've probably got some emails to answer. Has that Obama Change thing happened yet? Anyhow..I'm here...but I feel like Bill Paxon when he came out of stasis in Aliens II. I'm going to brush my teeth. How thick is the ice on Anglers Bay? Is it safe for quad travel or walk-out only?

Boji Hawk is up. What an early riser. I have been waiting for some time now. I remember last year around this time, my youngest flag football tournament was played in snow and cold temps. We even had our little buddy heaters out for the boys to warm up. About half of them were missing the next week in school. This year doesn't look like that will be true. I can't wait. My youngest asked if we can go to Boji this year so we can drive out again. We didn't make it up there last year with all the snow that we had. Have I mentioned that I can't wait?

Folks at the Sioux Center v. Okoboji game last night were discussing this years weather vs last yrs. It was chilly but it got warm again and we didnt have safe ice at Okoboji until the first Sunday in Dec. And it wasnt overly safe then. We had to talk something because Sioux Center was up 21 or 28 to nothing at the half. It ended 47-13 but could easily have been 80-7 if the starters hadnt come out and the freshmen played. I cant say I am ready for icefishing. I am enjoying the nice evenings at ball games and some quality fall fishing. I want to shoot a deer with my muzzleloader and some geese. Maybe a pheasant or two should the opportunity arise.

I would have chimed in earlier but one of my virus scans knocked out some cookies to a few sites I visit, been coming here and had not seen any "new" markers on any posts so I figured I was to early.(should have known better)
Next week the flipovers come out as part of "winterizing week" summer stuff goes up and cold weather gear comes out. Gettin anxious.

Iam here. Cant wait for ice but there is alot of stuff to do before then. Still fishing out of the boat and hope to shoot some ducks and geese, if they ever show up.

Weather is just being terrible this year for ice making. Even with the colder lows were still above average for october so far. When I get back from Florida around Nov 10th there better be some skim ice in areas or im gonna be getting worried.
