Opened the cabin up on L. Manitoba yesterday morning with plans to try and nail a few elusive L. Man. walleye for seasons end. Several freindly ice fishes congregated tight to the beach so I joined. Witnessed some real fatties caught by one very patient individual, largest being a solid 25.
I managed a couple hits and had a real scrap when I hooked into a 33 inch burbot
. All around caught at least one walleye...except for me.
. Near dark and alone now I pulled up my lines and threw in the towel for the season
.
Decided to troll a bit with my last baited line and thus moved from hole to hole. On my third stop, WHAM... landed a fat 22 incher in six feet of water
.
Nice season finish. Returned in victory to a wood stove warmed cabin and a glass of good scotch
!
Have a great off season all!
