Gotta get back to that. Took 3X as many last ice season. I like going back through them throughout the summer and fall while im waiting for ice. Brings a smile to my face.
In regaurds to that odd walleye. I think it was either injured at a young age or just deformed from the start. I think the latter. It had no tumors or cartilage at all. The spine had some extreme curveture both vertically and horizontally with a slight twist as well. It only measured 18" long and when laid next to a 21 1/2" fish the body was comparable. Other than that seemed to be a very healthy fish. Color is a bit off from laying in the cooler with the other fish. I caught it on a
. I was all packed up to move. Drove my quad over to the
, flipped the
outta the hole grabed the line and was like damn theres a fish on there. Pulled it up and it had completely swallowed the hook. Never tripped the flag!!! Had that happen twice this winter. Crazy!!!
The walleye was tagged at the Dow Dam on 3/30/09 and was a 20.4" male. I caught it 330 days later. Uncle just caught a 7.9# tagged eye that was tagged 5 years ago at Dow Dam. Only grew 2.5" since then....she was a fatty though!
