what is your favorite fish and how is it cooked?
 
My favorite fish is probably crappie breaded and deepfryed at home! ooooohhhh so good whats yours? dont b afraid to post!

Usually the fish on the hook at the time is my favorite. I do tend to enjoy catching walleye the most.

We catch alot of smallmouths in the summer and do enjoy the fish fry's.  Personally, I also like walleye, perch and pike in that order.  Crappie, and gills are delicious as well...problem is we really don't catch enough

One fish I can't get a taste for is Salmon.  We catch our share of these in July and August and give away all salmon steaks to our neighbors.  Maybe I just never had it cooked right?

Alaskan Sockeye Salmon the best fish ever, especially grilled fresh from river, also my best fishing trip ever!!!  Next would be some good ole' U.P. walleye batterd and fried.

Not much beats a sucker fillet freshly netted out of a stream, except maybe a fresh coho fillet grilled over maple wood. Perhaps sockeye salmon cooked with potatoes and seasonings in foil on a fire tie for second.

a sucker fillet?  ive heard of people smoking them.  i heard it taste like smoked carp  very rich tasting   something you can eat just a couple bites of.      any truth to that?

Mostly just kidding about the sucker, but they really do taste good smoked, though not quite as good as salmon or trout smoked, but darn good for what it is.

Burbot for sure!!!  Boil in olive oil and then dunked in melted butter mmmm yummy But i will never pass up a good walleye fry!!

Halibut fried in butter w/ a little salt and pepper... not a big fan of bass, always tastes a little fishy to me. I'd also have to agree if you like other fish but don't like salmon that the salmon was prepared wrong or a river caught fish... This fall I had some first hand experience comparing a spawning salmon to a steelhead. The salmon weighed in at about 12 lbs and the steelhead about 6 lbs. The fillets from the steelhead were as big if not bigger than the king fillets.

Walleye coated with flour and seasoning and pan fried in butter is as good as it gets IMO.  Grilled Salmon is a close second.

Has to be bluegill deep fried using a Cajun seasoning called Andy's.  Man does it add the zip to the filets.  Of course it is hard to take those fried in butter in cast iron.  Second favorite is trout fried in butter dusted lightly with flour, garlic salt and pepper in cast iron, of course.  Come to think of it I have never turned down a home cooked meal of fish.

Would have to agree with iceman260, beer battered perch is hard to beat. Although I've done many different pan fish ( bluegill,crappie,white bass, smaller smallmouth bass, & perch) at the same time cooked the same way and have fed some sizable groups and nobody could tell 1 from the other.   All just great!

several different surf and turf duos.....moose backstrap medallions with pan friend grayling, or burbot boiled with garlic butter.....or blacktail medallions with lingcod or halibut......i also love myself a few chunks of fresh salmon sushi right off the hook! im known to carry soy sauce and some wasabi in my pockets
