Devils Lake Roads
« on: Feb 16, 2010, 07:34 AM »
I'm taking my Son fishing on Devils Lake in a few weeks.  We only have a 2 WD truck and no snowmobile or 4 runner to get around.  Does anyone know if the roads they plow on the lake are decent enough that we'll be able to get around with a 2 wheel drive vehicle?

I've been out there when the roads were clear and by the time we were done fishing it was hard to get around in a 4WD.  When the snow is as deep as it is on Devils Lake, they drift over in the slightest wind.  I would check Eds Bait Shop and Woodland Resorts pages for current reports.     I am planning a trip myself, later in March and starting to reconsider already.  From most of what I've heard lately, I would be reluctant to head that direction with out a snowmobile.

Anybody been up in the last week or so?  I've checked the fishing reports for Woodland Resort, Ed's Bait shop, & Dosch's but none of them have been updated in a while.  I'm headed up this weekend so I'm looking for whatever info I can get.

Talked to buddy who lives there tough going as for as getting around goes some access on roads by casino, woodlands, and creel bay but good luck with a 2wd it might be pretty tough bring your sleds with because you might be walking ALOT! White bass arent usually to hot in the winter on DL perch are usually pretty tough to locate its been feast or famine for them this year! Walleye bite was decent last weekend if your not catching any walters move, the guys who have been having good luck have been of the beaten paths more work but more fish. Walleyes 16 to 24 f.o.w has been pretty good but dont be afraid to go deeper for perch. Hope this helps, Good luck and throw a few back for me to catch!
