Heading up to the river mouth tomorrow. anyone know what the trails are like out on the ice? i've just got a 2 wheel drive truck, should handle the path fine if it's fairly worked in..... anyone know how it is there?

Saturday a.m. was fine, wind kicked up in the afternoon, trails blowing in, some 4X4's having trouble getting off later in the day, Sunday was blowing in too, tough going in some areas......tonight calling for winds gusting up to 60 km, don't think you'll be making it in a 2 wheel drive!

he's talking about matlock access, not driving down river to the mouth........but for what it's worth, they are cutting ice, lot's of cuts near the cut......was driving over them yesterday as were many other....plenty of signs up not to enter the area.

You can get on the lake via chalet beach road no problem, someone was there today with a skid steer on tracks and cleaned a parking lot to unload quads, sleds etc.

I wouldn't suggest taking a vehicle on the lake.  There were several vehicles that did, granted some made it to their destination, but there was a hell of alot of vehicles that got stuck.

If you drive about 10 min past Chalet beach, hang a right on Matlock road, take a right after the general store at the stop sign. Drive 4 or 5 minutes until you hit Warner Road, take a left, great access!! Ice road's better than Chalet, less people, good fishing.

Or just turn left at the stopsign on CBR for half a mile.
