If you could only own 1 jig, what would it be?

I need a jig and am pretty poor. What jig would you own if you could only have 1?

Back to basics you just can't beat a Swedish Pimple. But a lot depends on what you are fishing for.

I'd go with a plain hook and sinker. That way color is not the issue, just bait.

You need to elaborate a little more. Panfish, trout, walleye, bass, northern, etc. The field right now is a little to broad. Fin

Alll of the above really. If you wanna give what you would want for each that would be good. When I go fishing i go for whatever will bite unless I am fishing for pike then I am aiming for just pike.

I think if you use the rite jig for many speices and you use a jig that you can target fish with on a year round basis then you have to go with a 1/16 silly leg jig with a glow pink head and green flake body. No need to worry about bait and you can target a variety of fish at any time of the year. I have caught Steelhead, Bull head,Gills, Crappie, Smallmoths, Perch and Walleye on this one jig in all seasons.  I tie them myself and I never leave home without a few no matter if I am headed to the hard water, in the river or spring slab fishing.

I FISH, THEREFORE I AM, IN SEARCH OF THE HEDI MOGIN !!!!HAVE ROD WILL TRAVEL!!!

Northland forage minnow rainbow color

Agree, I have caught more different species on that one lure than any other through the ice. Not sure why that color is so effective.

From the top of my head: trout(rainbow, brown and lake), N. pike, pickeral, walleye, yellow perch, crappie, bullhead, sunnies(gills, PKS), large and smallmouth bass, rock bass, smelt, cisco.

If you can only afford one jig, I would quit fishing and start saving money. Maybe pick up aluminum cans off the side of the road. :)

I've already spent about 200$ on this seasons gear. I dont do much jigging and am just getting into it. I dont wanna spend alot on it until I actually pull up a fish.

As a stay at home dad with no license I need to show a LITTLE restraint.

What size would you recommend for this? 3/8? 1/2? 3/4?

I was just kidding, go to the bait shop and buy some ice fishing tear drop jigs they don't cost more than about $1 each, tip them with waxies. I would not go heavier than 1/64 oz, I'm mainly talking pan fish, I use tip ups for walleye and pike.

Ya i mostly am going to be jigging for pike bait when im jigging, so im not really aiming for trout or anything like that.

Maybe thats why free shipping? Those are way to big. I would only use that heavy in a river with real strong current, or fishing over 40 feet deep with a big minnow.

Those arent free shipping. I was speaking of the jigs sold on fish307, not the spoons he was talking about.
