1/29 Ice conditions
« on: Jan 29, 2010, 01:04 PM »
The repoprts are coming in from customers... There are several places that are fishing again. Use your head, the edges are still not completely safe but once you're on you have much better ice.

I personally walked on Wethersfield Cove this morning. The parking lot is still under water and wide open  but the river is dropping FAST. I got on just south of the barn and drilled 7" of good ice about 20 yards out. I plan on stopping back there again after work for another update

I also checked Silver Lake in Berlin. The edges were sketchy but I was able to walk on with no cracking. I drill a couple of holes and measured 3 1/2" not far out. I didn't go far because the wind was brutal so it's possible the ice is thicker out further...

Other locations that we've had customers fish in the last 36 hours are:

Wood Creek
Winchester
Savin
Black Pond in Meriden
Mashapaug
Terramugus
Pocotopaug
Beseck

I have no idea how much ice is there or what the edges are like so use your heads!
