  • Build A Smitty Sled.......it's a back & lung saver
New Homemade Camera Tripod
« on: Jan 25, 2010, 09:47 AM »
I made this tripod from an old video camera tripod I had tucked away in a closet, not used in years, so...why not make it something worth while. So here it is, removed all the stuff out of the middle, cut a slot in the housing for camera cable, attach foam ball(or you could use a tennis ball) to camera cable, cut a slot in the ball to the middle, also the foam ball or tennis ball will float if you drop it in a hole. I also attached 1/2" pipe insulation to each leg so the tripod will not sink if I knock it down the hole. You could probably find one of these at a thrift store for a few bucks. Cheap and easy to make. I also made a compass earlier this year, I don't like to bend way over with all my winter clothing on to turn the compass, this tripod setup is right in front of me, easy to turn Smitty
