along with lures?

I find the best bait is Rum and coke,It catches the biggest fish and also promotes catch and release Sometimes  smelts work  but fish aren't nearly as big

We were out on Waterhen on the weekend and used smelts with a night stalker hook after we caught a few we used the eye balls, and put them on a spoon and jiged

I prefer the ciscos from Pokey's in Regina.  Seem to have a higher hit rate than the smelt, but sometimes you just have to use what is available.  Come spring, it doesn't really matter what you put on the tip-up...if the big females are in chasing the burbot, they'll take most anything.

ciscoes hands down, tried almost everything else nothing seems to come close on the lakes we fish.

Not working for 2.5 years because of a bad back is taking it's effect on my bank roll...but hey,my fishing skills are much better :}
