damariscotta lake
« on: Jan 23, 2010, 04:48 PM »
thinking of headed over in the AM

surprisingly, only fished it once, and it is close to the house

we'll be on foot, accessing from the boat ramp on 213

anyone want to share a direction to head from there, or if we are in for a long walk to find decent water?

thet put in a fair number of fish this fall.....including some beast togue

yeah, that's about what i found in the archives

we're either headed to the state park and are staying in comfortable walking distance or ditto from the ramp on 213

Go in at the state park and hit the first point on the left with the house on it....Used to live near that point and did good on browns and brookies!!!

Damariscotta can be slow, but there are good fish in there. Have caught many a nice fish there. Fished it today with my dad and the ice is 12-14" and even saw a few trucks out in the bay. We parked at the State Beach and rode sleds to the deep hole. There is a presure ridge about 1.5-2 miles down the lake, but did see some sleds cross over it. MDH suggestion on location is certainly a good one. Bring a jig pole because you can hammer the jack smelts to help pass the time in between flags. Depending on what your target species is depends on whether you fish off the boat launch on 213 or head up to the bay. If you ever want to fish it, shoot me a pm.

Oh, there is a bit of slush in spots, but nothing too bad.
