First fish of the season
« on: Jan 21, 2010, 04:04 PM »
Finally caught a fish this Winter at Richmond Pond. It was my first time out there. I couldn't believe how shallow it was. Caught this little guy jigging on a pimple tipped with a spike.

yup its a spring bobber. It detects light bites when the fish are finicky.

That's a respectable perch.

First fish?  How many times have you been out this year, or are you stuck where the ice doesn't get thick enough for a long time?

3rd time out. I have been busy with work so I havent had the chance to make it out much. Yes that is a spring bobber. Came with my $10 special rod and reel combo. Plenty of ice in the Berkshires. I have never been to this pond before so I made the jerk move and holed up next to another group of people.

I think I would have lost my mind if I had only been out three times since the ice came in.

Nothing wrong with setting up next to somebody if you introduce yourself!

I didnt go talk to them. Didnt want to bother them as I did not want to be bothered either. The plan is to make it out every weekend for the rest of the season. We will see though.

I was just given one. Dying to try it out. It picks up sensitive hits
