I use a 16" piece of metal conduit, 1/2" with a rope going through it, and each end is attached to the sled. Tie a knot on one side of the conduit, that will act as a stop. Lower it into the augered out hole, then keep tension on it, it will keep it in place under the ice, and span across the opening. When you want to move, release the tension, and let the conduit slide down the end opposite the knot. Works fine for me, and I can rely on my portable staying put in a stiff wind. Also, if it's real windy, lower the canopy as a precaution.
