I ALSO CAUGHT THE FISH OF A LIFETIME (sort of)

First time posting a pic so work with me.  Fishing on the Hudson I hooked this beast on my perch rod.  4 pound line.  Took about 30 minutes to even see it, 45 minutes to land it.  Didn't come close to fitting through a 7 inch hole.  I had to triple the hole size to get it out.  Definitely the biggest fresh water fish of my life.  Estimated at about 30 pounds give or take 5.

The best part of that is you probably didn't know what it was till you got it to the hole.

wtg on one heck of an ice catch. I'm sure the fight was totally worth it even though it was a carp, the catch has to be a forever memory.  8)

great job!  i've broken a few good rods trying to land them fat slime balls in the summer...i cant imagine trying to bring one to the top with a jig pole.  definately something to be proud of !

The original hole was already a 7 incher.  I drilled two more holes next to it and chopped them out with a little spud to make a hole about 18 inches.  He took a one inch spoon tipped with spikes.  It was released unharmed to terrorize another ice fisherman someday soon.
