Local Pond 1/07 with
« on: Jan 07, 2010, 04:29 PM »
PJ and I decided to hit a local spot this morning.  We arrived around 8:30 and fished until 12:30.  Set up for tilts and jigging.  I got the first flag but no fish.  Pj hit the first fish around 9:30 with a couple more flags until 10:30 or so.  The tilts produces a couple bass and pickerel, nothing to write home about but it was fun to get out there and fell a tight line.  The jigging was productive all morning.  It was bluegill heaven.  We both jigged a pickerel up along with a perch each.  Mother Nature has a way of serving up some great color.

The gills were suspended at 5-6 feet and the perch and pickerel close to the bottom.  I used waxies and PJ used mealies.  He noticed how often you need to change the mealies compared to the waxies.  The waxies are far more durable in my opinion for jigging.  All in all a great morning.  Didn't seem like anyone else on the pond was doing any better than we did.  Many thanks to PJ for helping to pull the sled out and drill the holes.  I've been doing the whole physical therapy thing lately so the help was appreciated.

Not too shabby.  Nice weather today, too.

Nice it looks like you had yourselves a great day of hard water fishing! I too am from clinton, what pond were you fishing and how much ice is there? Im also in agreement about the mealies and the waxies in the fact that waxies are way more durable than the mealies! I use both for jigging and have had good success on them. Im looking to get out this weekend so if your headed out too and looking for someone to fish with let me know! Some nice weather too might i add!
