Ive heard a little bit about Eelpout/Burbot and i am curious about them.
ive never caught one before and would love to try fishing for them
i know they are found in lake champlain but any information on where/how/when to catch them would be great

I caught them on tipups with minnows on or near bottom...south bay of magog in newport

Willoughby is full of them, fish at night and they will terrorize you.. :tipup:

I think they are very nice looking ... not many freshwater fish with markings like this ....

There is/was a spot off Thompson's Point in Lake Champlain that used to have burbot caught while ice fishing, but from the couple of folks who told me about it they haven't caught them in over 10 years around there.

Ok, I've caught a couple of those but nothing over 10". Never knew they got that big.

magog, seymour, Willoughby they are full of them.  I have always caught them just before dark on the bottom with tip up and jigging for lakers.

Years ago I used to fish willoughby all night for them. Best night ever was 37. Can be alot of fun and pick up the occasional brown trout. How long was that top one ihousesoccer? 30 inch+? Thats a nice fish. A guy I used to fish with loved to eat them over any fish. Febuary is the best month to fish them because they are spawning and come in shallow. :)
