it depends on how you wanna get them if you wanna brave the cold you can take your boat below the red rock dam and you'll probally connect or head to clear lake storm lake or spirit lake if you wanna hard water fish for em
early to bed early to rise fish like h.e.l.l. and think up lies.

Storm Lake might be a touch out of central iowa, but still one of the best walleye producers in the state.

12 mile has been producing eyes consistently all fall...the winter bite is still on but it is a little tricky at times.  You won't find a trophy there but there is a huge population of 13 to 18 inchers.  It is a good place to catch  your limit of eaters.

Again not really Central Iowa but not far from it

Todd, have you been down to 12 mile lately?  Would like to go down this weekend but leary of how the ice there will be after the rain.  I haven't been down yet this year so wasn't sure how much ice there was before the rain.

I went and checked the ice at 12 Mile Thursday after all of the rain...there is still plenty of good clear ice mostly 7 inches around.   Hopefully I will be back out there soon after Christmas and once the wind dies down.

If you travel up north Brushy Creek has some mosters.  I have heard of people catching some big ones at Lake Cornelia and Briggs Woods.

rock creek is better through the ice than it is in open water and you kinda need to know where to go the dam is good so are the southeast boat ramp jetties

rock creek is like fishing in bath bath tub . I never have had any luck there myself .  :o The lake is need of some serious help  like fish structure and needs dredged as well ! For as big as is it is very shallow .

fireball i agree on the dredging part but there are lots of structure in about 18 feet of water down on the dam.  there is a concrete pump house right in the middle of the dam and if you go straight out youll find it and there are lots of piles up and down the dam face.  the fishing isnt what it was 10 years ago but there still there if you know where to look and have the patience.
