I would guess on the Gun channels. That gets the first ice every year.

went by gun today, never fished the channels since i don't know any one to let me go through there yard, i did see 4 people on the channels with not much action going on. From what i could see the west side of gun had iced over it and the east side was open. Since the south east side is for the most part is deeper i would hope it starts soon.

I'm refering to the state park channel. I would buy a park pass though. Most of the time you can just drive in, but I have seen the ranger driver through and check to see if you have the sticker.

i did go by there to, i seen one gut out fishing. If you don't annually park sticker you must do a self registration for a daily pass

Going to hit a lake up here by me tonight for specks, and then try Barlow on Sunday.  Gotta shop tomorrow.

Basset looked alittle thin yet at the launch.  That lake not only has inlets/outlets but is springs everywhere.  Baker had 2.5/3 at the launch and a couple guys were out on shaw.  Will be heading out over by Hastings in the a.m.

About 20' off the launch in my running shoes!!!!  Someone had already drilled a few holes.  Most all lakes should be real good by end of the weekend.

The south end is shallow and is good.  My bro verified.  2.5 to 3 yesterday.  The middle bays are very deep and are always late to freeze.
Bassett is slower to lock down as well.  Baker and Noonday would be good bets.

Went out on Carter this morning and the lake has 2.5-3.5" of ice.  Fishing was ok with the majority of the fish sitting tight to bottom.

was on Bairds Cove on Gun this morning, most people are tip up fishing since its only 5ft deep, seen a few come up.  this was my first time on the ice this season and it was great being out. I caught my smallest perch ever, about a minner size with lots of small gills and perch, i did catch since i don't gill fish much my biggest gill ever, it was like a football. Overall it was fun to be on some hard water just waiting for deeper water lakes to freeze .

Gonna try to get on Barlow tomorrow.  Hopefully there will be enough ice to get to my perching grounds.  Could not get to my speck spot up here...only about 2 inches of ice past 6 FOW.

You changed you name RC.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.
