checked ice again this morning, the main lake is covered with a skim coat, the northend is still pretty much the same around an inch. the water level is really low, that should make things intresting.maybe some time next week if it stays cold.

Keep the updates coming, I'm anxious to get out somewhere and only have 12 days left before I head south for a while. Need to get some icefishing in. You know of any smaller bodies of water that are safe?

i too checked yesterday and to my surprise i found a brave soul willing to  roll the dice. we did fish the north end but i would not recomend it ,around 2- 21/2 of black ice with a couple inches of snow on top.there are many spots where the spud goes threw on the first hit.the pucker factor was a 9. anyway it was great to get out.we didnt get into any fish other than a few hits and a perch.we both had floatsuits a spud and rope and were prepared for the worse. i dont recomend trying to fish it just yet ,but to each its own, BE CAREFUL

well here it is... the lake hasnt made any ice since sunday .. i still fished on 2 inches of ice and caught a few but still dont recomend fishing it, unless your fully prepared to go swimming.i tried to make my way up to the island but didnt get all the way there (i made it a mile or so .. i needed to go a mile 1\4) ran into a spot where  the ice was only an inch.. if i wouldnt have been spuding, i would have went swimming.so if any one follows my tracks(they are the only ones headed to the island) make sure u stop at my last set of holes.im gonna fish again tomorrow ,but with the warm weather and snow coming that might be it for a while.all of this referres to the northend ,if u try the southend .....UR A BRAVE MAN. LOL( if u do let me know how it goes. i might meet u there ;D)

Richard, I'm not that hungry yet to be out there on that "thin" ice. You are a bit lighter than me though so I'll let you keep testing it ;D

was out four 2 hours and got 2 perch...  by the time I figured out that the marks on the vex were perch and what they would bite I hardly marked anymore after that...   Next time I will do better now that I have tried the lake...  not used to fishing for perch crappies and bluegill and walleyes from the same hole

How much Snow are you getting that way ? 10"-12" of snow will kill 3" of ice !  Way too much weight on it !
