I'm going on Saturday
« on: Dec 07, 2009, 01:19 PM »
This saturday is the only one I have off for the month.  I am going to fish a pond I have permission for but have never been on.  I am taking my hand auger and my new cabelas shelter and my new Humminbird ICE 35.  I have never fished this pond before but I know there is pike and I heard maybe even some walleyes.  I hope all this snow doesn't mess me up.  I kow someone went thru the ice on saturday but I figure that by the time I go onthe 12th it will be thick enough.
Anybody got advice for fishing a small pond for the first time?
If you want a country run by religion....Move to Iran.

I see you have lots of new gear, any chance you have a camera also. You can drill a series of holes in a line and drop the camera down and look around. If you don't have a camera try the same with your fish finder. Drill at least a half dozen holes 20 yds aparts and then go back to check depth and look for fish. Before you do anything, ask the person that gave you permission if they ever ice fished it and ask about depth, structures and species. Good luck, new water is always hit and miss.
