ice on boysen
« on: Nov 27, 2009, 06:43 PM »
Hey just figured i would tell everyone what i heard from a buddy today, on his way back to casper from lander. He saw three guys out on the ice fishn away so either their crazy or the must be a few inches of ice. I cant wait ill probably head out next week hopefully the ice sticks around! :o :o :o
Great thing about ice fishing is, if the fish don't bite at least you know the "BEER" will stay cold!

I was out around Boysen today. I saw the guys fishing, then were about 20 feet from the shore at the causeway, and about that far from open water too. I'd call myself a fool if I was out on it.     The ice overall went to about halfway to fivemile from the causeway, with some open water holes in it here and there. The south side of the causeway was more solid though.

Well if there is ice around the bridge I'm hoping that poison creek is capped up. With the cold weather in the forecast for the next week I'm keeping my hopes up. Has anyone out there heard anything about poison creek? :P

i went back again today after birds. There is less ice than yesterday. There was some wind that was ripping it up. it was also in the high 30's at 7:30am, so I wouldn't expect much ice accumulation.

It's usually pretty good jopes, I used to live in Casper and me and a couple buddies would make many day trips from Casper to Boysen....I can't remember a time that we had to drive the speed limit ;) ;D
A Bad day of fishing in better than a Good day at Work!!!

Me and a buddy got out there yesterday, 3-4 inches. Just wanted to get out and make sure everything was operating smoothly and ready to go for the season.
I'd rather do it on the ice

Me and the wife will be up there for three or four days 12-31 to 1-3. Any advise on places to catch perch? I am only familiar with the tough creek area as I have camped and fished there in the summer. I have a good map of the lake. We will probably not have the fourwheeler on this trip unless I can afford some repairs, but we are used to walking a good distance pulling the sled.

Hey hump I have always done well on the perch near the sister islands and north and south muddy bays. They are located on the other side of the lake, my best advice would be to fish in about 40 t0 50 fow. You might have to punch several holes to find them, if you have a vexilar it helps to find them schooled up.Fish any where from a couple feet off the bottom all the way to 15 feet from bottom, I like to use small buckshot jigs with a minnow head! Be safe and good luck 8)

There will be lots of pressure ridges also, just use some common sense and ya should be ok. Dont be afraid to go to 70 ft of water also. Gotta go where the fish are.

The weather forecast is for subzero temps for about a week or more so everything should freeze real good really soon. -10 for worland and -14 for riverton tonight. That'll make some hard water. ;D

Ice just went on, but don't know if it's fishable or got blown off by wind

Ya, I bet you can. LOL!!  I'm back in the saddle again.  Haven't ice fished for 5 years; got in a little trouble down at Bear Lake, UT yrs. ago, but I'm ready for the action.  Been fishing the area for years, can't wait to dip a minnow!!!  Fish on!!
