Pike presentation
« on: Nov 22, 2009, 03:36 PM »
Lately I've been chomping at the bit for some ice to form on the Northeastern bodies of water. I decided to try a new presentation method to target pike.  Here's what it looks like.

-25 lbs. HT vinyl coated main line.
-Barrel swivel
-25 lbs. powerpro
-Clevis and spinner spoon
-splitshot
-Size 6 treble hook

So many fish, so little time.

For multispecies rigs I like to use just the braided leader, splitshot, and a single #1 gamakatsu.

I used spinners on my tip-ups this past year for half the season and it seemed to twist and knot my line up. I took them off and still caught just as many fishin on a regular black leader and a #4 red treble.

This is a new presentation for me. If I don't see any real difference in numbers or size I will be going back to a plain leader. I figured I had accounted for line twist using a walleye fishing clevis to attach the blade.  There's only one way to know for sure.....Go test 'em out.

I fish for bass, smallies and large and will pike fish abit this season as well. My leaders are all 6 ft in length. Most of my leaders sport a small colorado or indiana blade on a northland clevis about 2 feet from the hook.  I think it helps bring in fish . Or are we wasting our time with jiggin spoons aggressively?!?! I think not..... We jig with one lure to bring fish into strike another, why wouldn`t the same reasoning apply here with a leader.
