What's your goal for this coming season?
« on: Nov 18, 2009, 02:17 PM »
Got any goals for this coming season? I'd like to fish some new waters, get my 3.5 yr old daughter on a mess of perch. We've been talking about ice fishing almost daily in the mornings now. We are going to bring chicken soup, chairs, bankets, spoons, etc etc etc... The works.. She has a list longer then one my wife could write!

I am really pumped about her being more aware this coming season!

My goal is to fish (maybe night fish) Ontelaunee Reservoir... never seem to make it out there for one reason or another. It may not be what it used to be (as far as the crappie fishing is concerned), but a friend of mine here at work talks about the "good old days" there and I just want to fish it to satisfy my curiosity (and his).

Find Crappies that are not known about. It is nice when you know where the good slabs are while other people are frustrated. ;D

My goal for this season is to find nice crappies on the Paupack, and of coarse just as every winter, if I'm not working, ice fish 4 to 5 days per week........  "God Willing"....

An 11" bluegill and a 15" Perch are my goals every year. And to hit a couple new lakes I never fished before. But mostly to have fun, eat well, meet a few new members, and stay on top.

Fish new lakes, expand my ice fishing knowledge, and meet and fish with some different people. Guess I'll have to revisit Ontelaunee with Dizzy as well  ;). I can remember the good old days on Ontelaunee; a major component in turning me into a hard water addict. Interesting to note that the locals who removed buckets of slabs, seemed to complain the most about the fishing going downhill. ??? It's always the fault of the outsiders apparently. My pan fish goals are similar to Beans, with the addition of at least one slab (14'') crappie.

Hey VC, forgot to send this one to you over the summer... 15.25"... caught it while bass fishing a lake near Mount Pocono (only crappie I've seen or caught there in my six years on this lake).

My number one goal is to have fun.  2nd, 3rd, and 4th in no order,Pike over 40", a laker over 30" and a perch over 14". Having fun shouldn't be an issue. The fish goals though...

Every year goals - to go as much as I can, return home safely after every trip, have fun, meet old and make some new friends, fish some new waters, learn to fish some old waters better, catch a few fish, and enjoy what is being given to me.

Additional goals -40" pike and get a few decent walleye.

I would like to be able to find and catch pike in a local lake on a regular basis.

Oh yeah to Spend as much time as i can with my new born daughter.

Learn. I want to increase my knowledge of the lakes I fish, learn where they go in the winter and what they do. I have had many triple digit days in the summer on my home lake and I want to put all the resources at my disposal to work and become a better ice angler.

I will have access to a 90 acre private lake that has almost no fishing pressure durring the winter.  I caught some nice slab crappie out of there this summer, and I'm gonna find 'em this winter and pull me some slabs through the ice!  There are some walleye in there also, so another goal is to pull a keeper sized walleye through the ice.  The lake is in SE Michigan.

My goal is to get my homemade wheelhouse completed by the time the ice is thick enough to pull it out. ;D. I'm also hoping to get out as much as possible before my first child is born (Feb 3) cause I'll probably be spending alot more time at home.

To not be a basket case by the end of the season  I tend to get overly excited.

My second goal is to find Bean on the ice and help him reach his goals

To catch just one big eye or a big laker. I always wanted to pull up a nice brown or rainbow also. Like an 8 pounder or better. Just one of these fish would make my season.

To get my kids more involved in the outdoors, both hunting and fishing.  Just took my 13 yr old for 2 days of deer hunting.  What a treat! He's so young and unaware of how it's done.  So I need to teach him (and the rest of them that want to- I have 5 kids) some of what I've learned along the road of hard knocks (my dad was not an outdoors type so I'm mostly self taught).  I hope they learn more than I can teach them and go on to out-do their old man.

Have some laughs, catch some fish (a 15” perch or a 17” crappie would make my year), work on my jigging technique and maybe catch a few nice walleye and pike. Hopefully it will be a lengthy season this year
