Make sure you check the rules for whatever lake or pond you intend to fish.  Not sure if it's legal everywhere.

They only night fishing I have done was on Paugus Bay, went out with a crew of guys for perch on night, it was a great time and much diffrent than day fishing

If you fish at night, its well worth the money to buy a couple of these tip up lights.

I have gone night fishing for cusk, got quite a few and a few salmon who went back in the hole.  :tipup: This year going to try it again it was fun and get some cusk again.

You can only fish Winni and other lake trout/salmon lakes for two hours after sunset. If you get a ticket it's an automatic year suspension, which means you won't be able to fish any derbies.

I have night fished, overnight too in ME. That is the only time I have done it...it was a ball but very cold. I was up in mid Feb and I think we where at -25 that night too. But coulpe adult drinks and I was feeling like 100 dergees. LOL  :)

You can fish Winni and the other trout/salmon lakes all night long if you want.  You just can't keep trout two hours after sunset.  Spent many a night out on winni jiggin cusk and white perch...good stuff.  ;)

Fishing walleye through the ice at night is very common around my town.

Best time to go for cusk....Occassionally pull an all-nighter during the derby if the fishin's good enough ::) ;D

there were a bunch of all nighters last years derby because of the warm temps all night
