Well been a busy summer.Was gonna take the boat out today but got sick..Hope to heal so i can do more GPS work b4 the hardwatr hits..The surface temps were cold last week. Wont b long now..

I'm so ready, it's not funny. This site makes it ten times worse. A guy from Canada just posted that he could be on the ice after 2 more cold days.

Set up the hut today in the driveway with a couple of new modifications; a new fold down table for the stove and the antler just to make the place homey. Can't hardly wait.

Big Al I usually fish the Plains Lakes, also Granite and Crystal, but on occasion do other excursions just to mix it up.

Drove past Dollar Lake in the upper Green, there were people ice fishing on about 4-5 inches of mostly clear ice. Howling winds and 15 degrees!! The River is frozen solid, but there is no snow at all....

I was also wondering about Hattie or Saratoga. Saratoga has been colder than Casper by quite a bit. Any reports on either?

As of last Saturday evening, ice was forming on the south side under the cottages. Also half the west end was capped over.

hell ya i cant wait. been doing some goose/duck hunting and alot of the small ponds are freezing. not so good for the birds but getting me a drooling and itching for the arrival of some hardwater. I just got a brand new eskimo auger, cant wait to fire it off. The model i got was the eskimo viper w/ the 71 cc 3.7 hp engine. this thing must tear the ice to shreds. The only thing im not so excited about is the throttle is plastic.To me it seems like something that could break. My old eskimo auger had a metal bar throttle not much plastic on that. Why do they have to mess with stuff, wasnt like the thing was cheap. Ahh who knows, anyways good luck to everyone. cant wait to hear of the first trips out, ice conditions, and of course numerous fish caught. be safe and have a great season guys and gals. see ya out there... big west

hey do you know if there is good ice at meadowlark? also is there anything else but trout in there. i fished it the summer and caught alot of trout but nothing else. If you drop me a line with some info that would be great. thanks big west

BigWest- there are only trout in meadowlark, brookies,rainbows and some really good browns if you can catch them, and maybe some hybrids also.

Leaving in a few minutes, letting the frost leave some first.
